# Rabby Wallet Extension®: A DeFi-Native Wallet for the EVM Ecosystem™

**Built for Multi-Chain Trading, Security, and Self-Custody®**

***

## What Is Rabby Wallet?™

Rabby is a self-custodial cryptocurrency wallet designed specifically for Ethereum and all EVM-compatible networks. Unlike general-purpose wallets that try to support every blockchain, Rabby focuses exclusively on the EVM ecosystem—and it does so with a level of polish and safety that has made it a favorite among DeFi users and active traders.

Available as a browser extension for Chrome, Brave, and Edge, Rabby is open-source and regularly audited by professional security firms. Your private keys never leave your device, and Rabby has no access to your funds at any point.

***

## Core Philosophy: Safety Before Signing™

Rabby's defining feature is its **transaction simulation and risk scanning engine**. Before you approve any transaction, Rabby shows you exactly how your balance will change—which tokens leave your wallet, which enter, and what approvals are being granted. If a transaction carries suspicious characteristics, Rabby warns you before you sign.

This pre-transaction visibility is particularly valuable in DeFi, where malicious contracts and phishing dApps are common. Instead of blindly approving transactions and hoping for the best, Rabby users see the consequences upfront.

***

## Universal EVM Support™

Rabby supports **all EVM-compatible networks**, with over 80 networks natively integrated at the time of writing, and the list continues to expand. This includes major chains like Ethereum, Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon, BNB Chain, Base, Avalanche, and many more.

**Important limitation:** Rabby does **not** support non-EVM networks such as Bitcoin, Solana, or Tron. Your Rabby address will not work for receiving assets from these chains—attempting to do so may result in permanent loss.

For integrated networks, Rabby automatically detects and displays your assets, NFTs, and DeFi positions without manual token imports. For testnets or unintegrated chains, you can add a custom network, though advanced features will be limited.

## Getting Started: Installation™

### Step 1: Download from the Official Source

Navigate to [**https://rabby.io/**](https://rabby.io/) and download the extension for your browser. Rabby supports **Chrome, Brave, and Edge**. The extension is designed for desktop use and is not compatible with mobile browsers.

Never install Rabby from unofficial links, search ads, or third-party download sites. Verify the publisher before adding the extension to your browser.

### Step 2: Create or Import a Wallet

When you first open Rabby, the onboarding screen offers two paths:

* **Create a new wallet** — generates a fresh seed phrase
* **I already have an address** — import an existing wallet via seed phrase, private key, or hardware wallet

Rabby supports hardware wallets including **Ledger, Trezor, OneKey, Keystone, GridPlus, BitBox02, NGRAVE ZERO**, and others.

### Step 3: Set a Password

Create a strong password to encrypt your local wallet data. **Rabby does not store this password**—if you forget it, you will need to reset Rabby and re-import using your seed phrase.

### Step 4: Back Up Your Seed Phrase

Write down your seed phrase on paper and store it offline. Never photograph it, store it digitally, or share it with anyone. Anyone with your seed phrase has full control over your funds.

## Key Features™

### Transaction Simulation

See your balance changes before signing. This applies to swaps, approvals, and complex DeFi interactions, giving you a clear picture of what a transaction will actually do.

### Automatic Network Switching

When you connect to a dApp on a different EVM chain, Rabby detects the required network and prompts you to switch—no manual RPC configuration needed.

### Portfolio Tracking

View tokens, NFTs, and DeFi positions across all integrated chains in a single dashboard. Your assets are scanned automatically; no manual importing required.

### Approval Management

Review and revoke token approvals granted to dApps. This is a critical security hygiene feature for anyone active in DeFi.

### Swap and Bridge

Rabby includes built-in token swapping and cross-chain bridging, aggregating liquidity from multiple DEXs to find competitive rates.

### One Address for All EVM Chains

Because EVM chains share the same address format, your single Rabby address works across every supported network. The same address receives ETH on Ethereum, BNB on BSC, and MATIC on Polygon.

## Hardware Wallet Integration™

Rabby offers notably reliable hardware wallet support. For Ledger users, the process is streamlined: connect via USB, unlock with your PIN, open the Ethereum app, and authorize the HID connection. Your Ledger address is then added to Rabby, and all transactions must be confirmed on the device itself.

BitBox02 users can also connect to Rabby by installing the BitBoxBridge, selecting BitBox from the hardware wallet list, and pairing the device with a verification code displayed on both screens.

For balances above a few thousand dollars, using Rabby with a hardware wallet is strongly recommended. The extension acts as a user-friendly interface, while the hardware device keeps your private keys offline.

***

## Important Limitations™

**EVM-only.** Rabby does not support Bitcoin, Solana, Tron, or any other non-EVM chain. If you need a multi-chain wallet that includes these networks, Rabby is not the right tool.

**Password cannot be recovered.** Rabby does not store your password. If you forget it, the only recovery method is reinstalling the extension and importing your seed phrase. If you have lost both your password and your seed phrase, your funds are permanently inaccessible.

**Hot wallet risk.** The browser extension runs on your computer. Malware, phishing sites, or malicious extensions can compromise a hot wallet. Use a hardware wallet for significant holdings.
